Individual Psychotherapy

Get Re-Acquainted With Yourself
When it comes to your therapeutic experience, the relationship you have with your therapist is of utmost importance as it plays a huge role in the effectiveness of the treatment itself. At JHCS our clinicians tailor sessions based upon your unique circumstances and/or needs. We understand that life may have brought you down paths that led you away from the truest version of yourself, so we cater to helping you find your way back home to yourself (hence the name, ‘Journey Home’). We provide you with insight, perspective, tools, or simply an ear if that’s what you need. We view therapy as an empowerment tool, and we’re here to meet you where you’re at. Our clinicians are trauma-informed, and utilize a strengths-based and eclectic style in working with you (meaning we mix different techniques to get the job done). Some examples of evidence-based modalities we might use in sessions are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Narrative Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapies, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and more. So whether you are coming to learn how to better regulate your emotions, understand how to process difficult or unfamiliar feelings, or try new coping strategies - our wish is for you to walk boldly in the healing that you are deserving of. No matter what road brought you through the door and on to our virtual, or in-person couch, we are dedicated to helping you take the steps necessary to journey back to that place that you call home.

Couples/Marriage Counselling

Cultivating A “We” Mentality
Do you know what is better than one healed person in a relationship? Two individuals with an unwavering commitment to their own healing, growth and understanding as to how they show up in the relationship. When one adopts that as a priority, it only means endless benefits for the relationship as a whole. Our couples therapists are passionate about helping you and your partner journey back home to each other. These sessions are a means to support you both through tough seasons, and help nourish your relationship back to its full and healthy state (or help get it there to begin with). Couples work is dynamic and complex, and so we also use an eclectic approach, but it is not out of the ordinary for us to end up zooming in on one of the following frameworks: CBT, Narrative Therapy, SFT, Family Systems Therapy, ACT, Emotion Focused Therapy, and/or The Gottman Method. Sessions for couples are generally 60-75 minutes in length. It is our hope that you are thriving individually and collectively, as such, our couples sessions are tailored to address both the 'me' and the 'we'. If whatever you have been doing has not been working, then why not try something different? The state of your relationship, and therefore your own mental well-being, depends on it. So, what do you say - ready to give it a try?

* Please note that we do not work with relationships where violence and/or emotional abuse is present (in these cases, we recommend individual therapy as a first step).

Men's Mental Health

A Place Where You Feel Seen
In a world where men have not been given permission to simply ‘be’ and to safely express their vulnerabilities, JHCS has curated a welcoming space for the everyday man - brother, husband, friend, uncle, son...etc. We understand the societal pressures that have been placed on you, and we know you hold back a lot, because there is expectation that you must always be the strong one - the leader. Our thought is leaders should be able to hang-up their superhero cape sometimes too. At Journey Home, we work with men individually, using counselling and psychotherapy, as well as life and relationship coaching. Your issues matter too, and there are unique challenges that men face yet, don’t always get the opportunity to unpack. Our doors, hearts and ears are open to you. With us, you can find the emotional peace that you are searching for, alongside tools, strategies, and guidance that will be refreshing (to say the least). You have a place in the world, and one at our clinic, we are opening the door. Will you walk through it?
